Sydney Thunder defeated Hobart Hurricanes in the Eliminator at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart by a margin of 57 runs on Thursday (Jan 30). With this victory, Thunder will play a Knockout game against third ranked Adelaide Strikers on Saturday (Feb 01) while Hurricanes are out of the tournament.
Having opted to bat first, Thunder put on a clinical performance with the bat scoring 197 for 5 in 20 overs courtesy a 103-run opening stand in 10 overs. In reply, Hurricanes were bowled out for 140 runs conceding Thunder a 57-run victory. Usman Khawaja (54 off 34), Alex Hales (60 off 37) and Jonathan Cook (4 for 21) are the star performers with the bat. All three from Thunder!
