Australia thumped South Africa by a margin of 97 runs in the third and final T20I at Newlands stadium in Capetown on Wednesday (Feb 26) to clinch the three-match series by 2-1. 'Chasing a target' in the limited overs cricket still remains to be a work in progress for the South Africans post AB de Villiers retirement.
After being sent in to bat first, Australia put on a stellar show with the bat posting 193 for 5 in 20 overs courtesy twin fifties from David Warner (57 off 37) and Aaron Finch (55 off 37). In reply, South Africa are cleaned up for just 96 runs conceding a massive 97-run victory to Australia as well as the T20I series.
Mitchell Starc has been adjudged as the 'Player of the Match' for his three wickets in just 2.3 overs. While Aussie captain Aaron Finch bagged the 'Player of the Series' award for scoring 111 runs in three games and leading his team to series victory. Next up in this tour is a three-match ODI series with first match on Saturday (Feb 29).
