Sri Lanka defeated West Indies by a margin of 6 runs in the third and final ODI at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele to complete rare whitewash. Considering the form of Sri Lanka in the recent past, this series result has come as a shocker for the strong Windies team!
Having opted to bat first, Sri Lanka posted 307 on the board in 50 overs. In reply, West Indies started off on a great note but couldn't go on to win the game. Sri Lanka's Kusal Mendis (55 off 48), Dhananjaya de Silva (51 off 47) and West Indies' Shai Hope (72 off 88), Sunil Ambris (60 off 60) and Nicholas Pooran (50 off 61) registered half-centuries in this game.
Angelo Mathews has been adjudged as the 'Player of the Match' for his four-wicket haul in the game. Wanindu Hasaranga has been adjudged as the 'Player of the Series' for putting his all-round abilities to display through out the series.
As part of this tour, a 2-match T20I series will be played next starting from Wednesday (Mar 04). Both the games are scheduled to be played at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele.
