Having opted to bat first, CSK persisted with Sam Curran as their opener who departed for a 3-ball Duck! Shane Watson (36 off 28) and Faf du Plessis (58 off 47) put together 87 runs for the second wicket while Ambati Rayudu (45* off 25) and Ravindra Jadeja (33* off 13) provided the much needed momentum during the death overs. CSK managed to got to 179/4 in their 20 overs.

During the chase, CSK provided enough chances to Shikhar Dhawan who kept Delhi in the chase right till the final over! Dhawan scored an unbeaten century (101* off 58) and Axar Patel (21* off 5) scored at a brisk rate in the final over.
