In what comes as a major boost for Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has confirmed tour of Pakistan which is slated for next year. As per the itinerary, England are scheduled to play two Twenty 20 Internationals on 14th and 15th of October in 2021.

As per the schedule, England are to arrive in Karachi on 12th October 2021 and play both the games at the same venue (Karachi) on consecutive days before leaving for India on 16th October 2021 for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 event.
The series is going to be short, just a 2-match affair, but Pakistan are hopeful that this series would play a pivotal role in hosting England for a Test series as well as limited-overs series in 2022-23 home season. England last toured Pakistan in the year 2005 and both the boards are more than happy to go on with this upcoming series in Pakistan. Here is what the Chief Executives of both the boards have had to say:
“It’s a real pleasure to announce that the England men’s IT20 squad will be playing in Pakistan in October 2021. This will be the first time since 2005 that an England team has toured Pakistan and as such it represents a significant moment for both nations," said Tom Harrison, ECB Chief Executive Officer.
“I am delighted to confirm that England will be touring Pakistan to play two T20s in October 2021. This will be their first visit to Pakistan for 16 years and will open the door for both Test and White Ball tours in the 2022-23 season," said Wasim Khan, PCB Chief Executive.
What happened when England last toured Pakistan in 2005:
Pakistan hosted England for a three-match Test series followed by a five-match ODI series. Incidentally, home team thumped England in both the series quite comfortably! They won the Test series by 2-0 and the ODI series by 3-2. Despite winning Ashes against Australia in the same year, England put on a sorry show with the bat in this 2005 tour of Pakistan.
