West Indies tour of New Zealand 2020, 3-match T20I series, Second T20I, New Zealand vs West Indies - New Zealand won by 72 runs
Sunday, Nov 29, 2020, Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui
Hosts New Zealand, after being sent into bat first, completely batted West Indies out of the game! It was all about the Glenn Phillips show with the bat who registered his maiden century in this format of the game - 108 off 51 balls with 10 fours and 8 sixes. His 184-run partnership for the third wicket with Devon Conway (65* off 37) put the home team in a solid position.

Courtesy of all these contributions, New Zealand finished with a massive 238/3 in 20 overs. Windies all-rounder Keemo Paul had a bad day with the ball as he conceded 64 runs from his 10 overs. Oshane Thomas, Fabian Allen and Kieron Pollard are the wicket-takers for Windies in this innings with a wicket each. Meanwhile, no Windies bowler conceded less than 9 runs per over in this innings.
Mammoth target on one side and inexperienced line-up on the other side, West Indies failed to put up a contest with the bat during the chase. There were five scores of 20s in their line-up but none of them got going as the Required Run Rate always kept on increasing with each over! New Zealand pacers Lockie Ferguson (1/22) and Kyle Jamieson (2/15) bowled brilliantly to help New Zealand beat Windies in this game.
In the end, Windies managed to get to just 166/9 conceding a 72-run victory and the T20I series as well! With this victory, New Zealand have taken an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the three-match series. Glenn Phillips bagged the 'Player of the Match' for his century that set the tone for the victory for home team New Zealand. The third and final T20I of the series will be played at the same venue on Monday (Nov 30).
Brief Scores: New Zealand - 238/3 in 20 overs (Glenn Phillips - 108, Devon Conway - 65*, Kieron Pollard - 1/33, Fabian Allen - 1/35) defeated West Indies - 166/9 in 20 overs (Kieron Pollard - 28, Keemo Paul - 26*, Kyle Jamieson - 2/15, Mitchell Santner - 2/41) by a margin of 72 runs
