Milestones to watch out for in the ODI series

India tour of Australia 2020-21, 3-match ODI series

Home team Australia are all set to India for a full tour starting from November 27. Three One-Day Internationals, same number of Twenty 20 Internationals followed by a four-match Test series (Border-Gavaskar Trophy) will be played in this 2-month long tour.

The first two of the three ODIs would be played at the SCG (on Nov 27 & Nov 29) while the third would be played at the Manuka Oval in Canberra on Dec 02. Here are some of the milestones that are expected to be made in this three-match ODI series between Australia and India.

Virat Kohli:

Indian captain Virat Kohli currently have 11,867 runs for India in the One Day Internationals. He needs to score just 133 more runs to join the 12K-run club in this format of the game. If he gets there, he would become only the second Indian after Sachin Tendulkar to get to this milestone and sixth player overall.

Sachin Tendulkar (18,426 runs), Kumar Sangakkara (14,234), Ricky Ponting (13,704), Mahela Jayawardene (12,650) are the players thus far to have scored over 12K runs in this format of the game. Virat currently averages around 60 with the bat in the ODI format and considering his recent form with the bat, he merely needs two ODIs to score the required 133 runs to get to the 12K-run milestone.

Aaron Finch:

Australian captain Aaron Finch is within the touching distance of making it to the 5000-run club in Tests. In the 125 innings, Finch scored 4,983 runs at an average just over 40. He scored 16 centuries and 27 half-centuries till date in this format. If Finch gets to the milestone (most likely in the first ODI), he would become the 16th Australian player to score over 5K runs in this format of the game.

Yuzvendra Chahal:

India's most effective wrist-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal needs 9 more wickets to complete 100 wickets in ODIs. In the 51 ODI innings, Chahal has picked up 91 wickets at an average of just over 25 which includes 2 five-wicket hauls. Chahal would become 23rd player from India if he gets to this milestone.
