With the pandemic taking control over even the cricketing world, a total of just 44 ODI matches are played in the year 2020. However, the games are still not out of competitiveness or not out of any thrill compared to previous years. Here are some of the stats from the ODI matches that are played in 2020.
Most Runs Scored:
With only few games played, only two players have managed to get past the 500-run mark. And both of them are from Australia. In fact, the top four in this list are all from Australia! The only other player in the top 5 is India’s KL Rahul who scored at an average of over 50 in the nine ODI games he played for India this year.
Steven Smith was no where in the scene in this format until India toured Australia for a 3-match ODI series later this year. In this series, he scored back-to-back 62-ball centuries at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney in the first two ODIs to get to the second position in this list. Highest Scores:
Bangladesh openers Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das have had fun when they played against Zimbabwe in the 3-match ODI series in March earlier this year. In the second match of the series, Tamim Iqbal brought up his highest score (158) in ODI cricket becoming only player to have scores over 150 in ODI cricket for Bangladesh – 154 in 2009 & 158 in 2020. However, in the third ODI of the same series, Liton Das scored 176 runs taking the highest score to this name and becoming the second Bangladeshi player to have a score over 150+ in ODI cricket. Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane was always backed by Australia’s former captain Michael Clarke and no wonder why! He proved it with his performances this year.
