There seem to be no stopping the Bangladesh side against the inexperienced West Indies side in the ongoing three-match ODI series. Home team had won the first ODI by a margin of 6 wickets and they bettered the win margin in the second ODI which they won by 6 wickets.
Having opted to bat first, West Indies once again failed to show intent with the bat. Rovman Powell (42 off 66 balls, 4 fours, 1 six) top-scored for the visitors as Windies are bowled out for 148 in 43.4 overs. Kjorn Ottley (24 runs) and Nkrumah Bonner (20) were the others in the Windies line-up to post a 20+ figure. Mehidy Hasan bagged 4 wickets (4/25 in 9.4 overs) and is the pick of Bangladesh bowlers in this match.
Chasing a below par target, Bangladesh lost three wickets but eventually they chased down the target with 16.4 overs to spare in their innings. Captain Tamim Iqbal starred for them with a half-century while Shakib-al-Hasan contributed with an unbeaten 43* off 50 deliveries.
Mehidy Hasan has been adjudged as the ‘Player of the Match’ for his contribution with the ball that helped hosts to restrict Windies to a low total! With this victory, Bangladesh have taken an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the 3-match series. The third and final ODI of the series will be played in Chattogram on Monday (Jan 25).
