Bruce Oxenford retires from International cricket

International Cricket Council (ICC) Elite panel Umpire Bruce Oxenford announced his retirement from officiating cricket matches at the International level. In an international career that spanned over 15 years, Oxenford officiated as umpire in 179 games and as TV umpire in 100 games.

Incidentally, Oxenford’s first and final international games as umpire are both in Brisbane – First match was a T20I match between Australia and South Africa while his final was the Test match between Australia and India in 2021! Overall as both umpire and TV umpire, Oxenford officiated in 91 Tests, 157 ODIs and 31 T20Is.

“I look back with pride at my international career as an umpire. It is still hard to believe that I officiated in close to 200 international matches. Such a long career was not really something that I had hoped for before commencing on this journey,” said Bruce Oxenford reflecting on his International career.

“I would like to thank the International Cricket Council, Cricket Australia and all my colleagues in the ICC Elite and International panels for their support and encouragement over the years. I had a wonderful time as a match official and will miss the camaraderie that comes with being a part of such a professional group,” added Oxenford.

Meanwhile, Oxenford has only retired from officiating International cricket. He will be available to officiate domestic fixtures in Australia!
