You can pinch yourself harder! Ishant Sharma is all set to play his 100th Test match for India. Considering his performances over the years at home, it comes as a complete shocker for many to see Ishant getting to this feat in the longer format for India.

With the recent overseas tours from the last three years, Ishant completely showed his transformation as a great pacer and a leader of the Indian pace attack in the overseas conditions, especially SENA countries.
Here are some of the numbers worth noting from Ishant Sharma’s milestone
70 – Ishant Sharma becomes 70th player overall to feature in 100 or more Test matches. England captain Joe Root in the first Test of this 4-match series was the recent player prior to Ishant to play his 100th Test match. Meanwhile, Ishant is the 11th player from India to feature in 100 Test matches.
2 – Ishant becomes the only second pacer from India to feature in 100 Test matches. The only other Indian player to make this feat was the great Kapil Dev who finished his career with 131 appearances in Test format for India.
302 – Number of wickets picked up by Ishant Sharma at the end of his 99 Test matches. He needs 10 more wickets to go past Zaheer Khan (311) and become the second-best pacer for India in Test cricket.
How many more Tests can Ishant play?
Former legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev was the most capped Indian pacer with 131 appearances. Ishant is just 32 years old and can target to go past Kapil given the fact that he is featuring in the longest format of the game for India. If he can curb his enthusiasm of featuring in IPL, Ishant can even play 50 more Test matches becoming the first Indian pacer to make this feat.
