Kieron Pollard hits six sixes in an Over

West Indies captain Kieron Pollard joined an elite club in International Cricket with his rare feat with the bat in the first T20I of the 3-match series against Sri Lanka. He had hit Sri Lanka’s wrist spinner Akila Dananjaya for six sixes – 36 runs – in an over! Ironically, the bowler was on a high having picked up a hat-trick (Lewis, Gayle & Pooran) in his previous over but that did not concern Pollard at all who just kept on hitting the ball over the boundary rope!

There was a hat-trick in the 4th over of the chase, picked up by Dananjaya himself and a wicket fell off the last delivery of the 5th over but Pollard chose to play his shots instead! These six consecutive sixes were launched into – long-on, straight into the sightscreen, long-off, deep mid-wicket, long-on and mid-wicket.

With this feat, Kieron Pollard is now the second player in T20Is and third overall in International cricket to hit six sixes in an over in international cricket! Herschelle Gibbs (in an ODI vs the Netherlands in 2007) and Yuvraj Singh (in a T20I vs England in 2007) were the others prior to Pollard to make this feat at the International level.

Here is the record levelling feat by Kieron Pollard. The commentary could have been a little better is what I felt after watching this video!

Courtesy of Pollard’s blitz with the bat, West Indies comfortably registered a 4-wicket victory in this first T20I. The home team are now leading by 1-0 in the 3-match series. The second T20I of the series is scheduled to be played at the same venue – Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua – on Friday (Mar 05).
