Morgan's record feat and Buttler's best T20I score

England opener Jos Buttler singlehandedly carried them on to a 8-wicket victory in the third T20I of the 5-match series against India. With this victory, England have taken a lead of 2-1 in the series. Home team India now need to win both the remaining games to win the series while England need just a single victory to win the series. Here are the statistiscal highlights from the third T20I between India and England.

100* – The third T20I between India and England was the 100th appearance for England captain Eoin Morgan in the T20I format. He is now the first England player and fourth overall to make 100+ appearances in this format of the game. Shoaib Malik (116 T20Is), Rohit Sharma (109) and Ross Taylor (102) were the others thus far to have made this feat in this format of the game.

83* – Buttler scored an unbeaten 83* runs off 52 deliveries with 5 fours and 4 sixes to guide England to an 8-wicket victory in the third T20I. This is his highest score in the T20I format. His previous best was an unbeaten 77* (54 balls, 8 fours, 2 sixes) against Australia in Southampton in September 2020.

77* – Indian captain Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 77* runs to guide India to a respectable total of 156/6 in 20 overs. This is his second consecutive half-century in T20Is. He scored unbeaten 73* runs in the second T20I of this series. This is the 7th time in his career, Kohli scored 2 or more consecutive fifties in T20Is.

0/32 – England pacer Jofra Archer’s bowling figures in this match. This is the third time he went wicketless in his last 4 T20I games for England. Archer though played only 10 T20Is for England, this is not a great sign for a bowler of such a great calibre! Archer was economical with the ball though!

156/6 – India’s team total in this match and they lost it in the end by a margin of 8 wickets. In the last 10 games (including this match) where India batted first at home and posted a total less than 200 runs, they lost on 8 occasions! Seems like IPL helped in improving the technique and skills of overseas players too!
