PCB plans to resume PSL 2021 in June

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in their latest media release stated that the plans have been made to resume Pakistan Super League 2021 edition in June later this year. A total of 14 games were played in PSL 2021 before being postponed owing to the rise of COVID cases. Seven cases were registered this year before the ultimate call was made by the PCB.

“Pakistan Cricket Board and the Franchises, the PSL Governing Council, are aiming to reschedule the remaining 20 HBL Pakistan Super League 6 matches in June 2021 in Karachi. This was unanimously agreed by the six franchise owners and the PCB in a virtual meeting held on Thursday afternoon and after taking into consideration all factors relating to event organization,” stated PCB in their media release.

As per PCB, Pakistan will return home from Zimbabwe in the second week of May while they will have to leave for England tour in the last week of June. Considering their schedule, PCB seem to have come to a conclusion to resume PSL 2021 in the month of June.

“The remaining 20 matches in June are now being planned following the men’s national cricket team’s return from Zimbabwe on 13 May and before their departure for England on 26 June. The PCB management will now look into the operational and logistical challenges and revert to the franchise owners and stakeholders,” added the media release.

On the other hand, BCCI have announced IPL 2021 schedule which will be played from April 09 to May 30. Many of the International stars have openly showed their interest to play in IPL than featuring for their national team. With all these happening around, PCB cannot risk clashing their PSL with IPL! That might make many of their overseas star players choosing IPL over PSL!
