The first player to hit 50 fifties in the IPL

Sun Risers Hyderabad (SRH) have lost five games in their first six games in the IPL 2021 season so far. They are currently reeling at the bottom of the points table with just 2 points against their name. After such a depressing performance during these first few games, Sun Risers have to up their game in their remaining 8 matches of the season to at least have a chance to qualify for the playoffs.

Their last of the five defeats in the IPL 2021 so far has come in the hands of mighty Chennai Super Kings who chased down a target of 172 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday (Apr 28). SRH captain David Warner (57 off 55) scored a half-century but the innings was very much contract to his style of batting! Here are some of the wanted and unwanted records Warner made during this innings against CSK.

50The half-century in this game against CSK is the 50th half-century for David Warner in the Indian Premier League tournament thus far. He is also the only player to make this feat in the tournament thus far. Shikhar Dhawan with 43 IPL half-centuries is second in this list while Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Rohit Sharma with 40 IPL fifties apiece are joint-third on this list.

10,000 – David Warner became the fourth player overall to score 10K runs in the T20 format of the game. He got to this milestone when he was batting on 40* during his half-century against CSK. Warner currently has 10,017 runs in his T20 career at an average of 37.80. Chris Gayle (13,839 runs), Kieron Pollard (10,694) and Shoaib Malik (10,488) were the others prior to Warner making it to the 10K-run club in T20 cricket.

50 – David Warner though scored 57 runs in this innings against CSK, he had played 50 deliveries for his half-century. This is the slowest half-century for Warner in the T20 format with his previous slowest coming in 49 deliveries against Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab) in the IPL 2019 edition.

201 – Warner had hit 2 sixes during his half-century against Chennai Super Kings. With the first six, he joined the 200-six club in the IPL tournament. He is the 8th player overall and 4th overseas player to make this feat in the IPL tournament thus far. Chris Gayle (354), AB de Villiers (245), Rohit Sharma (222), Mahendra Singh Dhoni (217), Virat Kohli (204), Kieron Pollard (202) and Suresh Raina (202) were the others to make this feat in IPL thus far.

4012 – David Warner becomes the first player from Sun Risers Hyderabad to score over 4K in the IPL tournament. No other player is close to Warner on this list. Former SRH player Shikhar Dhawan who is now playing for Delhi Capitals is second on this list with 2,518 runs.
