Bangladesh go past Australia in T20I Team Rankings

Bangladesh have been in tremendous form at home in the recent past T20I series' played at home. They have defeated Australia in a 5-match series by a huge margin of 4-1. And are currently leading the 5-match T20I series at home against New Zealand by 2-0 with 3 matches to go!

Prior to the tour of Bangladesh in early August this year, Australia toured the Caribbean where they played a 5-match T20I series and lost it by 1-4 as well! Earlier in the year, Australia lost another 5-match series by 2-3 to New Zealand. Even though Australia have not played with their main players, a defeat is a defeat after all! And all these series losses have contributed to Australia's downfall in the T20I Team Rankings!

After a tight 4-run victory over New Zealand in the second T20I in Dhaka, Bangladesh currently have 241 rating points. On the other hand, Australia have only 240 rating points which implies they are placed below the Bangladesh side in the ICC T20I Team Rankings. For the record, Bangladesh are currently at the no. 6 position while Australia are at no. 7 in the updated rankings.

England are currently leading the ICC T20I Team Rankings with 278 rating points. India (273 rating points), Pakistan (261), New Zealand (257), South Africa (246) are from second to fifth position in the same order with Bangladesh (241) and Australia (240) to follow!

In the last 4 weeks, Bangladesh have dismissed Australia for 60 runs which is their lowest total in T20Is and bowled out New Zealand for 62 which is their joint lowest T20I total! In the ongoing 5-match T20I series against New Zealand at home, Bangladesh won the first T20I by 7 wickets and won the second T20I by 4 runs. The third T20I of this series will be played on Sunday (Sept 05).
