England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have announced their 16-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against West Indies in the Caribbean! The 5-match series is slated to be played beginning from January 22. All the 5 games in this series are, as reported by ECB, to be played in Barbados.
Eoin Morgan will lead this side while Paul Collingwood has been appointed as interim head coach for the England side in this tour! Former England opener Marcus Trescothick has also been added to the support staff as an assistant coach!
With some of the first-choice limited-overs players currently touring Australia for the Ashes series, England named a relatively young-looking squad that also included two uncapped players - George Garton and David Payne.
“We have selected a strong squad with some serious batting power and a balanced attack as we begin preparations ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia. The World Cup is less than a year away and there will be increased opportunities for the squad in the absence of those players who are with the Ashes squad," said Paul Collingwood.
“I have good memories winning a World Cup in Barbados and I’m really looking forward to going back there with this squad to face a very good West Indies who will test all aspects of our skills,” added Collingwood.
