Marnus Labuschagne has undoubtedly become one of the best finds for Australia in the last 3 years in the longer format of the game. He has been among the runs in this format scoring runs against each opponent he played. He had thus far scored 6 centuries in the longest format of the game and all were at home!

Marnus had come out to bat in the first hour on Day 1 and went on to score his 6th century in Tests. He scored 103 runs which included 8 fours and was dismissed by Ollie Robinson as LBW after offering no shot. In fact, all his 6 Test centuries were scored in Australia and his 103 in this second Ashes Test was his second at Adelaide Oval.
Marnus resumed Day 2 with an overnight score of 95* and went on to complete his brilliant century. This is his third century in Day/Night Test match and is the first player to make this feat. A total of 19 players have scored at least a century in D/N Tests and Asad Shafiq (2 D/N Test 100s) is the only other player to score multiple hundreds in D/N Tests!

However, Marnus has had his share of luck on his way to his century! He was dropped twice on Day 1, both by England's wicketkeeper Jos Buttler. The first chance was on 21 off Ben Stokes bowling while the second chance was on 95 off James Anderson's bowling with the second new ball!
The second dropped would have hurt England most as the visitors missed a golden opportunity to run through Aussies middle-order with the second new ball under lights! On the other hand, Marnus was adjudged out first as caught behind on 102 off Ollie Robinson's bowling. However, it turned out to be no-ball.
Robinson in his next over trapped Marnus LBW to help England finally see the back of Marnus on 103! With these three missed chances, he made England pay with a 172-run stand for the second wicket with David Warner and a 65-run stand for the third wicket with Steven Smith!
