In what was a crucial match Delhi Capitals thumped Rajasthan Royals by 8 wickets to keep their IPL 2022 playoff chances alive! Rajasthan Royals were sent into bat first by DC captain Pant after winning the toss. The one decision that RR made to send in Ravichandran Ashwin at no. 3 cost them the match dearly! Ash scored 50 runs but he has eaten up 38 crucial deliveries while getting to that score!

Ironically, Sanju Samson was waiting for his turn to bat while Ashwin was at the crease! Ashwin came out to bat in the 3rd over and departed in the 15th over eating up all the middle overs and keeping their captain waiting for his turn! This decision completely took away RR's chances of winning this game!!
Courtesy of Ashwin's half-century and Devdutt Padikkal's 30-ball 48, Rajasthan Royals only managed to get to 160/6 in 20 overs. This surely was a below-par score and Delhi Capitals proved the same chasing down the target with 8 wickets in hand and 11 balls to spare in their innings!
Australian duo Mitchell Marsh (89 off 62) and Dawid Warner (52* off 41) proved too hot to handle for the Royals bowlers! Marsh also bagged 2 wickets in the first half of the match. Courtesy of this all-round performance, Mitchell Marsh has been adjudged as the Player of the Match!
Brief Scores: Delhi Capitals - 161/2 in 18.1 overs (Mitchell Marsh - 89, Trent Boult - 1/32) defeated Rajasthan Royals - 160/6 in 20 overs (Ravichandran Ashwin - 50, Chetan Sakariya - 2/23) by a margin of 8 wickets with 1.5 overs to spare
