The fifth and final Test of the 5-match series between England and India in England will finally get underway from July 01 this year! This rescheduled one-off Test match was part of the 5-match series that was played last year. The final match was canceled owing to the number of COVID-positive cases that arose in the Indian camp.

For the record, India are currently leading the 5-match series 2-1 with a match to go! India won the first and third Tests of the series while England won the 2nd Test match before drawing the fourth Test match! Much at stake for both the teams as the result of the fifth and final Test match will decide the series!
A victory or a draw in this fifth Test match will help India win the series while England must win this lone Test match to not lose the series! Both these had different captains and head coaches when this series started last year while both teams had new captains and coaches this year!
On the other hand, India are yet to decide to who to captain India in this match as their newly appointed Test captain Rohit Sharma has been tested corona-positive and is yet to completely recover from it! Jasprit Bumrah has been named vice-captain of the Indian Test side but is not yet sure if he will lead India in this lone Test!
Going by the recent performances, England are going into this lone Test with a 3-0 series victory against New Zealand at home while India had only one practice match in England in the last week! Moreover, India will most probably be without their in-form opener Rohit Sharma for this Test. Meanwhile, England players are in great form with the bat as they have been scoring at great rates in the recently concluded NZ Test series.
Home team England are in a great position ahead of the one-off Test and had the much-needed match practice while Indians are lacking on that front! At this stage, one can predict England to be the favorites to win this rescheduled one-off Test match!
