Australian captain Pat Cummins has announced two names from their playing XI for the first Test match against Sri Lanka that starts on Wednesday (June 29). One was related to their spin bowling option while the second one was an all-rounder spot in the middle-order.

Mitchell Swepson who had bowling figures of 2/266 from the two Test matches he played in Pakistan has been named as Australia's second spinner alongside Nathan Lyon for this first Test match. With Sri Lankan pitches turning square in the limited-overs games, the same conditions can be expected in the Test matches as well!
"We're really happy with 'Swepo'. He is bowling beautifully and is really ready for this one. These conditions, it's quite different to what we experience in Australia. That's the challenge of trying to win overseas. A lot of our preparation work has been around trusting our own methods. We might go about it differently from how Sri Lanka will," said Australian Test captain Pat Cummins.
On the other hand, Travis Head injured himself during the limited-overs games and is yet to completely recover from the injury ahead of the first Test. Australia are still pondering over his fitness and a late call will be made based on his fitness. According to Cummins, Australia will play Glenn Maxwell if Head doesn't recover in time for the first Sri Lanka Test match in Galle.
Australia are going into this series on the back of a brilliant 1-0 series victory in the 3-match series in Pakistan earlier this year. Both the Test matches in this 2-match Test series in Sri Lanka will be played at the Galle International Stadium in Galle.
