Marnus Labuschagne scores his maiden overseas Test century

Australian top-order batsman Marnus Labuschagne scored his maiden Test hundred in overseas test matches! Having made his debut in Australia, he so far has scored six hundreds on Australian soil. More importantly, three of those hundreds came in day-night Test matches becoming the only player to hit as many hundreds in D/N games. However, his overseas record was always a bother to him!

On Day 1 (Jul 08) of the second Test match against Sri Lanka in Galle, Marnus scored a brilliant century to give his team a chance to get to a good first innings total after opting to bat first! He scored 104 before getting stumped registering his 7th hundred in this format of the game which also turned out to be his maiden overseas Test hundred!

Meanwhile, he survived an easy stumping chance when he was batting in the 20s as Sri Lankan wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella failed to collect the ball cleanly! Marnus did not have a great record overseas to boast about before this year.

Prior to Galle Test, Marnus scored five half-centuries outside Australia with the best score of 90 runs at Rawalpindi in Pakistan earlier this year! Also, Labuschagne posted a video of him preparing for the sub-continent pitches earlier this year at home! So this hundred at Galle would give him immense satisfaction having all that hard work being paid off!
