Bairstow ruled out of third SA Test and T20 World Cup

England were dealt with a big blow as their middle-order batsman Jonny Bairstow has been ruled out of the third and final Test match of the ongoing 3-match Test series against South Africa at home! To rub salt into England's wounds, Bairstow has also been ruled out of the upcoming T20 World Cup later this year in Australia!

Meanwhile, Ben Duckett has been added to the squad as Bairstow's replacement. Duckett has played in 4 Test matches (7 innings) for England so far in which he scored just 110 runs with the highest score of 56 runs!

"England and Yorkshire batter Jonathan Bairstow has been ruled out of the rest of the summer and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Bairstow sustained a lower limb injury in a freak accident whilst playing golf on Friday in Leeds. He will see a specialist next week to ascertain the full extent of the injury," stated ECB in their media release.

"Nottinghamshire batter Ben Duckett has been added to the Test squad for the LV= Insurance third Test at the Kia Oval starting next Thursday (Sep 08). A further announcement will be made in due course on who will replace Bairstow in England’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup squad," added the release.

The 3-match Test series between England and South Africa is currently level 1-1 with the third and final Test match beginning on Thursday (Sep 08). South Africa won the first Test match at Lord's while England won the second Test match at Manchester! Coincidentally, both Tests got completed inside 3 days with the winning teams registering innings victories!
