Alex Hales (53 off 40) and Harry Brook (42* off 25) with the bat and Luke Wood (3-24) with the ball helped England comfortably defeat Pakistan in the 1st T20I of the 7-match series in Karachi. Pakistan's strike rate with the bat has once again taken center stage as the hosts only managed to 158/7 from a strong position of 109/1 at one stage in their innings!

Toss Update: England won the toss and opted to field first.
After being sent into bat first, Pakistan scored 158 on the board losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. Opener Mohammad Rizwan top scored for them with 68 runs while Babar Azam (31 off 24) and Iftikar Ahmed (28 off 17) were the only others to make a notable contribution with the bat for hosts!
England's debutant Luke Wood showed no signs of nerves as he bagged bowling figures of 3-24 from his 4 overs to restrict the home team to such a par total.
England, chasing 159 runs to win, managed to score 160 losing 4 wickets in 19.2 overs. Alex Hales who was playing his first international game after a 3-year exile stole the show with a 40-ball 53 at the top. Harry Brook (42* off 25) applied the finishing touches as the Visitors won the game by a thumping margin of 6 wickets.

Luke Wood has been adjudged as the Player of the Match for his crucial contribution of 3-24 from 4 overs on debut. England are currently leading the 7-match series by 1-0 with the second T20I on Thursday (Sep 23) at the same venue.
