Bangladesh register narrow victory against Netherlands

Afif Hossain and Taskin Ahmed helped Bangladesh comfortably defeat the Netherlands in the Super 12 match of the T20 World Cup 2022 edition. A close victory for the Tigers which could've gone either way in the end!

Toss Update: Netherlands won the toss and opted to field first.

After being sent into bat first, Bangladesh scored 144 on the board losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. Afif Hossain top scored with 38 runs as they got to a par total on the board. Opener Najmul Shanto (25) and Mosaddek Hossain (20*) were the only others to get past the 20-run mark. Paul van Meekeren bowled brilliantly for them registering 2-21 from his 4 overs.

The Netherlands, chasing 145 runs to win, managed to score 135 losing 10 wickets in 20 overs. They lost their first 4 wickets for just 15 runs on the board and they needed a special to get out of that slump! No. 4 Colin Ackermann (62 off 48) and no. 11 Paul van Meekeren (24 off 14) tried their best but couldn't carry them over the line.

Taskin Ahmed bagged 4 wickets conceding just 25 runs from his 4 overs carrying Bangladesh to victory in this nail-biter. Hasan Mahmud with figures 2-15 from his 4 overs including a maiden over also starred with the ball for Bangladesh!

Match result: Bangladesh defeated the Netherlands by a margin of 9 runs.

Taskin Ahmed has been adjudged as the Player of the Match for his crucial contribution of 4-25 from his 4 overs.
