Toss Update: West Indies won the toss and opted to bat first.

Having opted to bat first, West Indies scored 146 on the board losing 5 wickets in 20 overs. Brandon King (62* off 48) held one end strong but the batters at the other end did not show the amount of fighting spirit needed for them to get a strong total on the board. The promotion of Odean Smith ahead of Holder did not pay the expected rewards as he scored 19 runs while eating up 12 deliveries!

Gareth Delany was the pick of Irish bowlers with great figures from his 4 overs - 3 wickets conceding just 16 runs. Simi Singh (1-11) and Barry McCarthy (1-33) were the other wicket-takers for Ireland in this innings.

Ireland, chasing 147 runs to win, managed to score 150 losing just 1 wicket in 17.3 overs. Captain Andy Balbirnie (37 off 23) got them off to a flier while Paul Stirling (66* off 48) and Lorcan Tucker (45* off 35) added unbeaten 77* runs for the second wicket to take them home with 9 wickets in hand.

Akeal Hosein bagged the only wicket to fall in Ireland's innings. However, none of the 11 Windies players on the field during the run-chase felt confident as they were hugely let down by their batters.

Match result: Ireland defeated West Indies by a margin of 9 wickets.

Gareth Delany has been adjudged as the Player of the Match for his crucial contribution of 3-16 from his 4 overs. With this result, Ireland move to the next round while West Indies are eliminated from the T20 World Cup 2022.
