Malan, Curran carry England to T20I series victory

Dawid Malan and Sam Curran starred for England as they comfortably defeated Australia in the 2nd T20I of the 3-match series to win the series 2-1. The home team missed too many catches (as many as four) which cost them the match as well as the series!

Toss Update: Australia won the toss and opted to field first.

After being sent into bat first, England scored 178 on the board losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. They were in deep trouble with their scorecard reading 4-54 but Dawid Malan carried them to a respectable total with his 82 runs. Moeen Ali (44 off 27) too complimented Malan very well during their 92-run stand for the 5th wicket!

Marcus Stoinis was the pick of Australian bowlers with figures of 3-34 from his 4 overs. He conceded just 9 runs from his first 2 overs and he was expensive in his next 2 overs!

Australia, chasing 179 runs to win, managed to score 170 losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. They were in for a successful chase while Mitchell Marsh (45 off 29) and Marus Stoinis (22 off 13) were at the crease. However, Sam Curran brought England back into the game with the wicket of Stoinis.

Curran once again stepped up with the ball in the 18th over when Tim David (40 off 23) was in full flow. The leg-side yorker which cleaned up David was a highlight and that brought back England in the hunt! Ben Stokes, David Willey, and Reece Topley all claimed a wicket each in this close victory. 

Match result: England defeated Australia by a margin of 8 runs.

Dawid Malan has been declared as the Player of the Match for his crucial contribution of 82 runs off 49 deliveries with 7 fours and 4 sixes. England have now won this 3-match T20I series by 2-0 with one more match to go. The third and final T20I will be played in Canberra on Friday (Oct 14). Expect, England to rest their premium players in that game!
