Devon Conway and Glenn Philipps batted Bangladesh out of the game in the 5th match of the ongoing T20I Tri-series as New Zealand registered a comfortable victory! With this defeat, Bangladesh are out of the Final of this tri-series this Friday (Oct 14).

Toss Update: Bangladesh won the toss and opted to field first.
After being sent into bat first, New Zealand scored 208 runs on the board losing 5 wickets in 20 overs. Finn Allen (32 off 19) got them off to a flier while Devon Conway (64 off 40) and Glenn Philipps (60 off 24) helped them get past the 200-run mark. Martin Guptill batted at no. 3 in place of rested Kane Williamson and had scored 34 runs off 27 deliveries!
Among Bangladesh bowlers, Mohammad Saifuddin (2-37) and Ebadot Hossain (2-40) bagged two wickets each while Shoriful Islam (1-41) claimed a wicket.
Bangladesh, chasing 209 runs to win, managed to score 160 losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. Shakib al Hasan promoted himself to no. 4 and scored 70 runs which was a positive sign for them going into the T20 World Cup two weeks from now! There were a couple of scores in the 20s from the top 3 but the lower middle order completely failed with the bat.
Adam Milne was exceptional with the ball having registered figures of 3-24 from 4 overs. Tim Southee (2-36) and Michael Bracewell (2-39) claimed two wickets apiece.
Match result: New Zealand defeated Bangladesh by a margin of 48 runs.
Glenn Phillips has been adjudged as the Player of the Match for his crucial contribution of 60 runs off 24 deliveries with 2 fours and 5 sixes. With this result, New Zealand and Pakistan are all set to meet in the Final of this tri-series on Friday.
