The match was reduced to 9 overs aside with rain delaying the start of play. Zimbabwe elected to bat first after winning the toss. Courtesy of a crucial knock of Wessly Madhevere (35* off 18), Zimbabwe made an excellent total of 79-5 on the board in 9 overs.

South Africa's target was then reduced to just 64 from 7 overs with rain making another appearance. The run-chase was on even when there was a slight drizzle right through the chase. Only 3 overs were bowled in the run-chase in which South Africa scored 51 runs without losing any wickets! Quinton de Kock made an unbeaten 47* runs from 18 balls including 8 fours and a six in this chase.

The match was then stopped due to intense drizzle and points have been shared by the two teams. In what could have been an easy victory for South Africa, they had to share points and this might come to haunt them at the later stages of the tournament where points and Net Run Rate comes to play a crucial role in the qualification for semi-finals!
