Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran is having a great time with the bat in the One-Day International format. He has taken everyone by surprise with his brilliant knock of 162 in the third and final ODI in Pallekele. In his short career span of just 8 ODIs, he already scored three centuries and cemented his place as an opener in ODIs alongside another power hitter Rahmanullah Gurbaz!

Having been sent into bat first, Afghanistan lost opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz in just the 3rd over. Ibrahim Zadran then picked up the mantle and held one end tight. His 154-run stand for the 4th wicket along with Najibullah Zadran (77 off 76) was the highlight of their innings. Even with wickets falling at the other end, Ibrahim continued on his merry way to finish with 162 runs off 138 balls including 15 fours and 4 sixes. He was only dismissed off the final delivery of the 50th over!
His timely knock ensured that Afghanistan went past the 300-run mark as a team at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele. As a matter of fact, Afghanistan (including this innings) only breached the 300-run mark in ODIs for the fifth time in 74 ODIs batting first.

144 - The previous best score for any player in the ODI format at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele which was scored by Tilakaratne Dilshan against Zimbabwe in 2011. Now Ibrahim Zadran's 162 becomes the highest at this venue in this format.
131* - The previous best score for an Afghanistan player in the ODI format, by opener Mohammad Shahzad in Sharjah in 2015 against Zimbabwe. Ibrahim Zadran now eclipsed this score easily to get the highest score in ODIs for the Afghanistan team.
3 - Ibrahim Zadran already scored three centuries in just his short career of 8 ODIs. His centuries came against Zimbabwe (121 not out), and Sri Lanka (106 in the first ODI & 162 in the third ODI). He is yet to be dismissed between 50 & 99 as he converted all his fifty-plus scores so far in ODIs into centuries.
2 - Number of centuries Ibrahim Zadran scored in this 3-match ODI series. Till now, he is the only player to have scored 2 centuries in a 3-match ODI series in Sri Lanka.
