Aaron Finch has announced his retirement from the ODI format but his replacement, Travis Head, as an opener in this format is working wonders for them! He along with veteran opener David Warner put up a mammoth stand for the first wicket in the 3rd and final ODI that helped Australia register a thumping victory!

Here are some of the numbers from the brilliant first-wicket stand between this pair.
269 - This is the partnership between Warner and Head for the first wicket. This is the highest stand for Australia vs England for any wicket in ODIs. Also, the highest opening stand ever scored at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and this is the second-highest for Australia in ODIs.
Incidentally, Australia's highest stand in the ODIs (289) was also between Warner and Head in the year 2017 against Pakistan and was also for the opening wicket. With this 269-run stand against England, Warner and Head now become only the second pair in ODIs to have two 250+ runs stands for the opening wicket. The first pair was Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly (252 vs Sri Lanka in 1998, 258 vs Kenya in 2001).
152 - Number of runs scored by Travis Head in this innings. This was his fourth century in ODIs and his second 150+ score in this format. Incidentally, all his centuries were scored in Australia with his highest score of 161 coming against Sri Lanka in Canberra in 2019.
106 - Number of runs scored by David Warner in this match. This is his 19th century in ODIs and overall his 44th in his international career. This was a much special century for him as this is his first international century since his last one in 2020!
67 - Number of innings David Warner played across all formats without a century to his name - 23 ODIs, 21 innings in Tests, and 23 in T20Is. Since his last century in 2020, Warner scored 20 half-centuries which also includes 4 scores in the 90s. Incidentally, he was also dismissed on 99 earlier this year against Sri Lanka.
