Early on Day 2, Australia resumed their first innings with 293-2 on the board. Marnus Labuschagne who was batting on 154* overnight scored his 2nd double century before he was dismissed just at the stroke of Lunch. He was devastated by the dismissal and literally dragged himself off the ground.

On the other hand, Steven Smith went on to complete his double century as well from 59* not out at stumps on Day 1. This is his 29th century in Tests equalling Sir Don Bradman's record in this format. Ricky Ponting (41), Steve Waugh (32), and Matthew Hayden (30) are the only Australians above Smith on this list!

Travis Head who walked out to bat after the fall of Labuschagne made 99 runs before guiding the ball onto stumps off rival captain Kraigg Brathwaite's bowling. This is the first time Head was dismissed in the 90s in his short Test career. Australia declared their first innings at the fall of Head's wicket with 598 on the board and leaving Smith stranded on 200*.

West Indies openers did not show any signs of surrender looking at Australia's daunting total and played with utmost cool and composure! At stumps on Day 2, the Windies still trail Australia's total by 524 runs with all 10 wickets in hand. Tagenarine Chanderpaul (47*) and Kraigg Brathwaite (18*) are at the crease.

Brief Scores: West Indies - 74/0 (Tagenarine Chanderpaul - 47*, Kraigg Brathwaite - 18*) trail Australia 598/4 decl (Marnus Labuschagne - 204, Steven Smith - 200, Travis Head - 99) by 524 runs in the first innings
