Delhi batted first in this crucial match after winning the toss. There was once again a change in their batting order with Phil Salt getting promoted to the top, who bagged a golden Duck! And soon Mitch Marsh though scored 25 runs off 15 balls had to depart with a low score yet again against his name in this season.
Losing their fifth wicket with just 62 runs deepened their woes in this match and Manish Pandey (34 off 27) and Axar Patel (34 off 34) stepped up with an important 69-run stand for the 6th wicket. There were as many as 3 run-outs in the last 2 overs and DC only managed to score 144/9 in 20 overs.
Washington Sundar bowled a brilliant 8th over in this innings dismissing David Warner (21 off 20), Sarfraz Khan (10 off 9), and Aman Khan (4 off 2) in the same over on alternate deliveries! At the halfway stage, the target does not look to be competitive at all and Sunrisers were super favorites to chase down this low total.
During the run-chase, Harry Brook once again struggled as he was dismissed on 7 off 14 deliveries. Mayank Agarwal top scored for them with a 39-ball 49 but couldn't bat all the way down deep as he was dismissed in the 12th over. Heinrich Klassen (31 off 19) and Washington Sundar (24* off 15) scored briskly at the death but SRH fell short of the target by 7 runs.
Mukesh Kumar was fantastic at defending a small target of 13 runs in the final over! Axar Patel with a score of 34 runs with the bat and figures of 2/21 with the ball bagged the Player of the Match award.
