Royal Challengers pip Punjab Kings in Mohali

Injured Faf du Plessis with the bat and Mohammad Siraj with the ball helped RCB beat Punjab Kings in Mohali. Sent into bat first, Faf (84 off 56) and Kohli (59 off 47) added 137 runs for the first wicket in 16.1 overs. A late acceleration meant that RCB finish with 174/4 after 20 overs.

In reply, Punjab Kings did not really show up with the bat! Losing their first 5 wickets for just 76 runs has taken away all their hopes for a win in this match! Prabhsimran Singh (46 off 30) and Jitesh Sharma (41 off 27) have taken them almost nearer to the Required run rate but their departure meant that RCB pocketed the game with a margin of 24 runs.

Mohammad Siraj has been exceptional with the ball picking up 4 wickets conceding just 21 runs from his 4 overs. Two wickets in the powerplay and a 2-wicket over to complete his spell at the death meant that Punjab Kings lose this game! Deservingly, Siraj bagged the Player of the Match award in this victory.

With this victory, RCB moved to the 5th position in the table while Punjab Kings are placed in the 7th position. Both have 6 points each and are only separated by NRR.
