Agarkar will head the selection team of Shiv Sunder Das, Salil Ankola, Subroto Banerjee, and Sharath. Agarkar is the senior member of this team making him the panel chairman according to the BCCI rules and regulations.
Agarkar replaced Chetan Sharma in this position who was removed in February early this year after his controversial interview with India's leading news channel. The first task in the hands of Agarkar and Co. would be to select a limited-overs squad for the upcoming 5-match T20I series in West Indies which begins on Aug 03.
Having represented Delhi Capitals as a player, Agarkar was also on the coaching staff of the franchise. He has also now stepped down from the role with the Capitals franchise and will be continued in the sole role of India's chief selector.
