Having opted to bat first, Sri Lanka could only post 213 runs in 47.4 overs before getting bowled out. Dananjaya de Silva top scored for them with 93 runs while Wanindu Hasaranga (20 off 21) and Maheesh Theekshana (28 off 47) added crucial runs down the order.

In reply, the Netherlands lost both their openers for a Duck each. However, they were in a comfortable position in this chase with the scorecard reading 88/2 in the 15th over. But they soon lost their way with the middle order failing with the bat. Skipper Scott Edwards scored an unbeaten 67* runs off 68 balls but he ran out of partners at the other end losing the match in the end.
