India seal ODI series victory in West Indies

India are enjoying a good run in the ongoing tour of the West Indies with a victory in the 3-match ODI series. India won the first ODI quite comfortably while the hosts made a miraculous comeback in the 2nd ODI to level the series. However, Indian batters eventually stepped up in the third and final ODI to complete a 2-1 series victory!

India was led by Rohit Sharma in the first ODI for the record. Rohit and Virat rested for the remaining two ODIs while India got to test their bench strength in this ODI World Cup year! Hardik Pandya was instated as captain in the absence of Rohit in the remaining 2nd and 3rd ODIs of the series.

ODI #1: India won by 5 wickets

India opted to field first and bowled out West Indies for a paltry total of just 114 runs! Captain Shai Hope top-scored for them with 43 runs while the rest of the batting unit fumbled! In reply, India took just 22.5 overs to chase down the target with 5 wickets in hand!

ODI #2: West Indies won by 6 wickets

In the absence of senior players, West Indies found an opportunity to win this game and level the series. For a change, Windies bowled first in this game and bowled out India for just 181 runs. In reply, Captain Shai Hope stood tall with an unbeaten 63* to take them home with 6 wickets in hand. Keacy Carty with an unbeaten 48* supported his captain well at the other end in this successful run-chase.

ODI #3: India won by 200 runs

With the series on the line, Indian batters stepped up posting a huge total of 351/5 on the board in 50 overs. Shubman Gill (85), Ishan Kishan (77), Hardik Pandya (70*), and Sanju Samson (51) all scored half-centuries contributing to this huge total. In reply, Windies were bowled out for 151 runs conceding the match as well as the series to India.

Ishan Kishan has been adjudged as the Player of the Series for his consistent display with the bat in the series! With three half-centuries in three games, he scored 184 runs and was the leading run-scorer in this series!
