David Warner scores 46th International ton as opener

David Warner achieved another milestone in his career by hitting his 20th ODI century in the 2nd ODI between South Africa and Australia on Saturday, September 9. Despite facing criticism for his poor form, the left-hander answered his critics in style with a classy knock off just 85 balls.

This was also his fifth hundred against South Africa in this format of the game. Incidentally, Warner scored 10 out of 46 centuries against Proteas in Internationals! After reaching the landmark, he performed his trademark celebration by jumping in the air with the bat in his left hand and the helmet in his right.

David Warner broke Sachin Tendulkar's all-time record of 45 international centuries by scoring his 46th century in the second ODI match between Australia and South Africa at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein. It is worth noting that Sachin's 45 tons as an opener came in the ODI format while Warner achieved his feat with 25 centuries in Tests, 20 in ODIs, and one in T20Is.

Warner and Head started strong, taking on the Proteas bowlers resulting in a 109-run partnership for the first wicket. Head was the first to depart after scoring a quickfire 64 runs off just 36 balls.

However, Warner continued to hold his crease strongly on the other end. The left-hander went on to score his century (106 runs off 93 balls with 12 fours and 3 sixes) as he shared another important partnership of 151 runs for the third wicket with fellow centurion Marnus Labuschagne, who played a brilliant knock of 124 runs off 99 deliveries.
