First run-out dismissal for Rassie van der Dussen in ODIs

In what was a great mix-up between South African's no. 3 batter Rassie van der Dussen and his captain Temba Bavuma, the former has registered his run-out dismissal in the ODI format of the game.

In the 12th over of the innings bowled by Sean Abbott, South Africa's no. 3 punched towards mid-off and set off for the single straightaway.  However, Bavuma wasn't going for the run as he was watching the ball facing the umpire.

Unluckily, Rassie ran almost all the way before he attempted to turn and get back seeing Bavuma wasn't even watching him. The throw from Marcus Stoinis is gathered by Australian wicket-keeper Alex Carey who runs towards the stumps and underarms into them.

It was a very lucky dismissal for Australia as South Africa were starting to build their innings after a slow start.

On the other hand, this is the third time overall Rassie was dismissed as a run-out in his international career. The other two instances were in a Test match (against Pakistan in Karachi in 2021), and in a T20I (against Sri Lanka in Sharjah in 2021).
