England did not get intent down right from the first delivery after Bangladesh sent them to bat first. Jonny Bairstow scored 52 runs while Joe Root continued his superb form with 82 runs at no. 3. The star of the show was opener Dawid Malan who scored a brilliant hundred - 140 runs off 107 balls.
The top 3 batters did most of the scoring and with a bit of support from the middle order, England finished with 364/9 in 50 overs. Mahedi Hasan (4/71) and Shoriful Islam (3/75) were the leading performers with the ball for Bangladesh!
Bangladesh got off to a worst start in their run chase having lost their first 4 wickets for just 49 runs on the board. They went into a shell from that stage to save their Net Run Rate in this long tournament! Litton Das (76) and Mushfiqur Rahim (51) scored the fifties each and a 39 from Towrid Hridoy as Bangladesh were bowled out for 227 runs in 48.2 overs.
England moved to fifth position with this victory while Bangladesh dropped to 6th position from the top 4! Deservingly, Dawid Malan bagged the Player of the Match award for his inspirational innings at the top.
