Pakistan was reduced to 38/3 inside the first powerplay after being sent into bat first including the wickets of Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, and Imam-ul-Haq. Mohammad Rizwan (68 off 75) and Saud Shakeel (68 off 52) added 120 runs for the 4th wicket, bringing back Pakistan into the game!
And once again, Pakistan lost three wickets in quick succession - from 158/3 to 188/6 in the span of 4 overs! A 64-run stand for the 7th wicket between all-rounders Shadab Khan (32 off 34) and Mohammad Nawaz (39 off 43) helped them post a competitive total on the board!
Bas de Leede bowled superbly for the Netherlands who returned figures of 4/62 from his 9 overs, playing in his maiden World Cup match! Spinners Colin Ackerman (2/39) and Aryan Dutt (1/48) also bowled with great control!
During the run-chase, the Netherlands lost their first two wickets with 50 runs on the board. And a brilliant 70-run partnership between opener Vikram Jit Singh (52 off 67) and Bas de Leede (67 off 68) put them in control of the run-chase! However, a miscalculated shot by Vikram in the 24th over (caught on the deep mid-wicket boundary) opened the game for Pakistan!
Logan van Beek, at no.9, scored a 28-ball 28 as they bowled out for 205 runs eventually conceding a massive victory in the end. Haris Rauf (3/43) and Hasan Ali (2/33) were the top performers of Pakistan's bowling unit where each of them bagged at least a wicket each!
Pakistan's Saud Shakeel has been adjudged the Player of the Match for his crucial contribution with the bat when they were struggling in the first half of the game! As a matter of fact, Bas de Leede played better than anyone in this match scoring a half-century and packing 4 wickets with the ball.
