New Zealand was led by Tom Latham in place of recovering Kane Williamson and he was only provided with three main bowlers Trent Boult, Matt Henry, and Mitchell Santner. They were well aided by James Neesham, Rachin Ravindra, and Glenn Phillips. And this bowling unit did exceptionally to restrict England to a par total.

Joe Root's 77 and his 70-run partnership along with captain Jos Buttler for the 5th wicket were the main key points in England's innings as just got to 282/9 in the span of 50 overs. Glenn Phillips bagged the wickets of Moeen Ali (in the 22nd over) and Joe Root (in the 42nd over) and those wickets gave them a great advantage in this match!

Chasing a modest target of 283, New Zealand lost opener Will Young for a golden duck in just the 2nd over! Then Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra made sure that they did not lose any further wickets with an unbeaten 273*-run partnership for the 2nd wicket to take them home!

Devon Conway scored an unbeaten 152* runs off 121 deliveries including 19 fours and 3 sixes. Rachin Ravindra was unbeaten on 123* runs off 96 deliveries including 11 fours and 5 sixes. There will be many more centuries scored in this tournament going forward but this onslaught one might not see! Playing in his first-ever World Cup match, Rachin did exceptionally well in this high-pressure run-chase!

Brief Scores: New Zealand - 283/1 in 36.2 overs (Devon Conway - 152*, Rachin Ravindra - 123*) defeated England - 282/9 in 50 overs (Joe Root - 77, Matt Henry - 3/48) by a margin of 9 wickets
