Pakistan chase record target against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad

Pakistan roared themselves to the top in a high-scoring encounter in Hyderabad against Sri Lanka chasing down 345 runs with 10 balls remaining in their innings! As many as four centuries were scored in this run-fest as 689 runs were scored by both teams combined!

After being sent into bat first, Sri Lanka lost Kusal Perera for a 4-ball Duck! And then Kusal Mendis did strike with ease scoring 122 runs from 77 balls before departing in the 29th over. Pathum Nissanka showed signs of his return with the bat scoring 51 runs at the top.

Meanwhile, Sadeera Samarawickrama did most of the scoring once Mendis and was dismissed on 108 in the 48th over! Despite scoring 100 runs in the overs between 21 and 30, Sri Lanka batters failed to take control after the departure of Kusal Mendis. They could only manage to 344/9 in 50 overs with just over 60 runs coming in the final 10 overs!

Pakistan lost Imam-ul-Haq and Babar Azam inside the first powerplay and was looking for a partnership to build their innings in this run chase! Abdullah Shafique (113 off 103) and Mohammad Rizwan (131* off 121) just provided them that much-needed 176-run stand for the third wicket to settle their innings!

Rizwan remained unbeaten in this chase taking his side over the line with 6 wickets in hand and 10 balls to spare in their innings. Deservingly, Rizwan was adjudged Player of the Match.
