India's preparation for the World Cup has been impacted by inclement weather as both of their warm-up matches ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023 at home have been cancelled without any play. The first match was scheduled against England in Guwahati on September 30, but due to the weather conditions, the match was cancelled after the toss.

Similarly, the second match was scheduled against the Netherlands in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday (Oct 03) but was also washed out due to rain. As a result, India will enter the World Cup without any match practice in the lead-up to the tournament.
However, India recently beat Australia 2-1 in a 3-match ODI series at home, providing them with adequate game practice for the upcoming marquee event.
As Harsha Bhogle rightly pointed out from the Commentary box, India travelled the length and breadth of the country for their warm-ups but to no avail as both games were washed out.
India recently finished their three-match ODI series against Australia. The last ODI of the 3-match sereis was played in Rajkot, located in Gujarat, India's westernmost state. Then they traveled to the northeast to Guwahati (warm-up against England), followed by a trip to Thiruvananthapuram (warm-up against the Netherlands), situated near the southern tip of the Indian peninsula.
In total, India covered a distance of over 6,000 km for these two trips but for zero match practice. India will play their first game of the tournament on 08th of October against five-time champions Australia in Chennai. One would wish for a better weather for this opener!
