Records galore for South Africa against Sri Lanka in Delhi

South Africa made a humongous total of 428 for 5 in their 50 overs against Sri Lanka in the 4th match of the ODI World Cup 2023 edition at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. As many as three centuries were scored in this innings and many records were broken/made along the way.

428/5 - South Africa's team total in this match was the highest for any team in an ODI innings in World Cups! The previous best total was by Australia (417 for 5) against Afghanistan in the 2015 edition.

3 - Number of South Africans to have scored a century in this innings. Quinton de Kock (100 off 84), Rassie van der Dussen (108 off 110), and Aiden Markram (106 off 54) have all gone past the 100-run mark. This is the first time 3 players have scored a hundred in a single innings in ODI World Cups.

49 balls - Number of balls taken by Aiden Markram to get to his century in this innings. This is the fastest century in terms of deliveries faced in the ODI World Cups.

8 - Number of 400+ team totals for South Africa. This is the most scored by any team in ODIs. Three of those scores have come in World Cups - 411/4 vs Ireland in 2015, 408/5 vs West Indies in 2015, and 428/5 vs Sri Lanka (today)!
