South Africa's best second-wicket partnerships in ODI Cricket

South Africa had a great start to their ODI World Cup 2023 campaign with a massive 102-run victory in their opening game of the edition against Sri Lanka in Delhi on Saturday (Oct 07). As many as three centuries were scored in their innings marking it the first such instance in World Cups.

Many records were broken as they posted a mammoth 428/5 in 50 overs on the board. One of them was the 200-run partnership for the second wicket between Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen after losing Temba Bavuma early. This is the third instance for South Africa to register a 200+ stand for 2nd wicket in ODIs.

#3. South Africa vs Sri Lanka in Delhi (2023)

Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen were unstoppable in their partnership of 204 runs which came in just 174 deliveries. The stand came after losing Bavuma early and proved to be a strong foundation for them to post a massive total on the board. Both the batters went on to score their personal centuries with Rassie scoring 108 runs while Quinton made 100 runs.

#2. South Africa vs Kenya in Cape Town (2001)

South Africa made 354/3 in their 50 overs and bowled out Kenya for just 146 runs to register a massive victory. Both Gary Kristen (124 off 130) and Neil McKenzie (131 off 121) who were involved in a 209-run partnership for the 2nd wicket scored big hundreds each.

Hashim Amla and Faf du Plessis stitched together a 247-run second-wicket stand in this World Cup game in Australia! Amla scored 159 runs while Faf scored 109 runs. On the other hand, Amla became the fastest to 20 centuries in ODIs with this hundred which came in just his 111th innings.
