David Warner’s Bat Snaps in Action-Packed BBL Match

In the latest incident during the Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25 match between Sydney Thunder and Hobart Hurricanes on January 10, 2025, David Warner, the captain of Sydney Thunder, experienced a bizarre moment when his bat broke near the handle during a shot.

The broken side of the bat then struck Warner on the head, leading to some humorous commentary from the BBL's official social media and various news outlets.

Despite this, Warner remained not out at the crease, having scored 33 runs from 27 balls up to that point in the game. The match was taking place at Bellerive Oval, where conditions were not ideal for batting. The bat broke while facing a delivery from Riley Meredith in the fourth over, and although it was an unexpected and painful moment, Warner continued his innings without any apparent injury.

Warner remained unbeaten on 88* off 66 balls in this game guiding Sydney Thunder to a par total of 164/6 in 20 overs. With less support from the other end, Thunder couldn't ride on Warner's innings.

Hobart Hurricanes chased down the target in just 16.5 overs to take the game and crucial points. Tim David top-scored for Hobart with an unbeaten 68* runs off just 38 deliveries with 4 boundaries and 6 fours.
