Pakistan change venues for the upcoming tri-series

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has recently decided to relocate the upcoming Tri-Nation One-Day International (ODI) series from Multan to Lahore and Karachi. This move is in anticipation of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, for which both cities are preparing their venues.

Lahore: The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore is undergoing significant upgrades to increase its capacity to 35,000 and improve spectator and player amenities. The venue is set for an inauguration in the last week of January, with modern facilities like new hospitality enclosures and digital replay screens being installed.

Karachi: The National Bank Stadium is also being upgraded with enhancements like new LED lighting, hospitality areas, and additional seating to enhance the viewing experience.

The decision to move the series to these two venues was based on the advanced stage of these preparations, reflecting PCB's confidence in their readiness. The Tri-Nation Series, involving Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa, is scheduled to start on February 8 and will serve as a showcase for the upgraded facilities ahead of the Champions Trophy.

The PCB has assured that all renovations will be completed on or before the set deadlines, with over 250 workers currently involved in these projects to meet the January 25 deadline. This relocation is part of a broader strategy to host international cricket matches at world-class standards, especially significant as Pakistan prepares to host its first ICC event in nearly three decades.
