His inclusion comes as part of India's strategy to prepare for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, despite him not being in the provisional squad for the event.
Chakravarthy, known for his performances in the T20I series against England where he took 14 wickets, including a five-wicket haul, has yet to debut in ODIs. His recent success in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Tamil Nadu, where he showcased his skill in the 50-over format, likely played a role in his selection.
The decision by the BCCI selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, to include him in the ODI series but not in the Champions Trophy squad has sparked discussions. However, there's still an opportunity for changes, as the roster can be modified until February 11. His performance in the ODIs could be crucial for securing a spot in the Champions Trophy team.
