Arshdeep leapfrogs Chahal as India's highest wicket-taker in T20Is

Arshdeep Singh has emerged as India's leading wicket-taker in T20 Internationals (T20Is), surpassing Yuzvendra Chahal. During the first T20I match against England on January 22, 2025, Arshdeep achieved this milestone by taking two wickets inside the powerplay.

His performance included dismissing Phil Salt and Ben Duckett, bringing his total T20I wickets to 97, one more than Chahal's record. Most importantly, he conceded just 17 runs from his 4 overs in this innings which put India in the driver's seat.

Arshdeep's rise to the top has been marked by his consistency and efficiency, especially in the shorter format. His record since 2022 shows him as one of the most successful left-arm pacers in T20Is, with a notable economy rate and two four-wicket hauls. His recent achievement marks him as the highest wicket-taker among pacers for full-member teams in T20Is since the start of 2024.

Additionally, Arshdeep's performance in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where he was the joint-highest wicket-taker with 17 wickets, underscores his significance in the Indian cricket team. His journey towards becoming India's first player to take 100 wickets in T20Is is now well on its way, needing just three more wickets to reach this historic milestone. Hopefully, he gets there in the ongoing 5-match T20I series against England.

His impact extends beyond international cricket, with notable performances in domestic tournaments like the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he has shown mastery over length and contributed significantly to Punjab's success this year.
